Carnaby Announces Christmas Installation 2020 – Retail News – A1 Retail Magazine

Innovative London landlord Shaftesbury announces the Carnaby Christmas installation 2020 which will be illuminated from Monday 2nd November 2020. This year the installation is an exciting collaboration with the Choose Love charity, who will also open a pop up shop, Choose Love, for the festive period to raise vital funds, at 24 Carnaby Street. There won’t be a countdown switch on moment, however the renowned Carnaby Christmas lights are sure to bring joy to many people.

The theme of this year’s installation is Choose Love in Carnaby. Visitors will be immersed in pink neon light from a series of lightboxes running the length of Carnaby Street. Each lightbox has a positive word with the hope that at least one will make you smile. The installation is to inspire a wish to share a powerful message of love and unity. The words pay tribute to the strength and courage of Londoners and the whole of the UK, and are an encouragement to continue with hope and to be kind to each other. Other words of empowerment include believe, heal, brave, dream, faith, together and family.

Dermot O’Leary, Choose Love ambassador says “Each year the Choose Love shop comes to Soho giving shoppers the chance to do something beautiful for their fellow humans as winter approaches, buying things like blankets, hot meals and kids coats for refugees and displaced people across the world. I’ve loved being a part of it every year. This year it will be magical to see Choose Love in lights on Carnaby street too. It’s been a tough year for so many people, so this message of solidarity, hope and connection is now needed more than ever before.”

The Choose Love shop: Shoppers will be able to buy all the essentials to help people in camps to get through the winter months including: warm blankets, hot food, kids coat and more. New items this year are the COVID-19 response pack which will be a £30 contribution towards sanitiser, PPE and medical care, and care for unaccompanied children for £25 – these funds will go towards winter clothes, school supplies, recreational activities and phone credit for unaccompanied child refugees who have fled their homes in search of safety. Shoppers will also be able to choose to buy the whole store (one of every single item) for £550. There will also be beautiful customisable e-cards available. The shop opens 17th November until Christmas at 24 Carnaby Street.

Over 100 retail stores, restaurants, café’s, pubs and independent businesses that make up this beating heart of the West End are coming to together to offer a free ticket that will allow subscribers to receive exclusive promotions and discounts from 12th November – 10th December. Tickets available at Carnaby.co.uk.

Josie Naughton, Choose Love founder says “We are absolutely over the moon that our amazingly generous friends at Shaftesbury are supporting Choose Love once again this holiday season. It’s been a particularly difficult year for many people, not least refugees and displaced people living in overcrowded camps across the globe. But we’ve seen this year that everyday people care about their fellow humans, even in the midst of a pandemic so we are confident that, with Shaftesbury’s help, we will raise the funds needed to ensure people have what they need to stay warm and well over the freezing months”.

Simon Quayle, Shaftesbury, Director says “Our message this Christmas is one of positivity. It has been a tough year and we wanted to use our installation to reinforce the message of togetherness. We are proud to work with Choose Love as our charity partner this year”.
